We love award shows and let’s be honest, it’s not about who wins or even who’s best dressed. We’re more interested in the smooth skin and glowing complexions gliding above the gowns on the red carpet. Even more fascinating are the celebrity beauty secrets behind those gorgeous faces—and we did some digging to discover what each of the Best Actress nominees does to get ready for the biggest night in Hollywood.
Meryl Streep
The three-time Oscar-winner indulges in what her facialist Tracie Martyn calls The Red Carpet facial. It includes diamond microdermabrasion, microcurrent and amber LED light therapy. Now that’s a recipe we’re familiar with! But our signature Freeze Facial also includes cold laser and multiple colours of light therapy. Did we just one-up Meryl Streep? Maybe.
Ruth Negga
The gorgeous Irish actress (above) says that the beauty product that changed her life was a pair of tweezers. And obviously she put them to good use: look at those brows! Negga’s amazing performance in Loving has had her walking a lot of red carpets this year. Her Chanel makeup artists prep her complexion with eye cream, serum and a nourishing lip product before applying a glamorous dose of glimmer to her eyes and cheekbones.
Isabel Huppert
Quintessentially French, Huppert’s red carpet beauty look is simple and elegant. Eyes outlined in liner and lots of lashes accompanied by the perfect shade of red lipstick. Glamorous yet just as appropriate for a coffee date as a major awards show. So chic.
Emma Stone
The La La Land actress’s beauty routine is very DIY. She exfoliates and moisturizes with ingredients found in the kitchen. Baking soda or brown sugar are her scrubs and grapeseed, coconut or olive oils serve as moisturizers. “I put it all over my face and smell like focaccia…and it’s really sexy,” she told Cosmopolitan. That’ll certainly be a unique scent on the red carpet!
Natalie Portman
A proud vegan, Portman attributes her glow to her diet and all the water she drinks. As for actual skincare products, her favourites are organic and formulated for sensitive skin with ingredients like chamomile and rosehip oil—but don’t worry, she is human after all. The mom admits to dark circles and religiously uses Dior concealer to look awake after long nights with her son.
Even if you’ll just be watching the Oscars from your couch (like us), you too can have celebrity-status skin. Book your Freeze Facial and feel just as gorgeous as the A-listers on the red carpet.
