Move over microblading, there’s a new brow enhancement and it’s non-invasive and temporary. Meaning: no needles and not too long to wait if you’re unhappy with the look. So what is brow lamination, how long does it last and what’s involved? We break down the trend below.

What is brow lamination?

Brow lamination lifts the hairs of the eyebrows and smoothes them, filling in gaps and making brows look thicker and shinier. The final result looks like you’ve expertly applied brow gel or wax to already perfect brows. Want to see some examples? How is it done?

Eyebrow lamination is a two-step process that’s like a perm or a straightening treatment. The first step breaks down the bonds in the hair. Then, eyebrows are brushed into the desired shape. A second formula is applied to the brows that neutralizes the first and sets them in their new shape. Finally, your brow technician may add a tint or do some additional shaping with tweezers or threading.

How long does brow lamination last?

The treatment generally lasts between six weeks and two months. Extend the life of your treatment by using a brow wax daily.

Should I DIY eyebrow lamination?

“Brow lamination kit” is a rising search term. But this isn’t something you should do at home, especially without training. Remember that first step of the process? The bonds that hold your eyebrow hairs together are broken. If you’re DIY-ing this and mess it up, you could end up eyebrow-less.
